The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. Established in 1951, IOM has been active in Tanzania since 2002. The organization operates within the United Nations Development Assistance Plan (UNDAP), collaborating with various UN funds, programs, and agencies in the country.

IOM Tanzania focuses on providing humanitarian support to refugees and assisting in resettlement processes. Their activities encompass migration management, crisis response, international cooperation, and partnerships. Additionally, IOM addresses cross-cutting issues such as migration’s relationship with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, reducing global inequalities, promoting gender equality, and tackling environmental challenges related to migration.
