The Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA), founded in 1989, is a non-profit NGO that empowers women and children in Tanzania by providing legal aid, advocating for gender equality, promoting women’s rights (especially land rights, reproductive rights, and leadership), and working towards legal and policy reforms for social justice and good governance. TAWLA offers legal services, conducts research, raises awareness, and engages in strategic litigation to ensure equal access to justice and uphold human dignity, focusing on vulnerable groups and fostering professional support for women lawyers.
